The match played between England and Ireland on Wednesday at the stadium of Bangalore created a new history. No one could imagine that 26 year old Kevin O’ Brien would make world’s fastest World Cup century.
England, after winning the toss, elected to bat first. With the help of the runs made by Kevin Pietersen (59 runs in 50 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes), Jonathan Trott (92 runs in 92 balls which includes 9 fours) and Ian Bell (81 runs in 86 balls with 6 fours and 1 six) gave a difficult target to Ireland. England made total of 327 runs on 8 wickets in 50 overs. However, Trott was unlucky. When he was on 92, just 8 runs away from his century, he got bold by John Mooney. A ball from Mooney with the speed of 134.2 kph landed outside off and crashed into off stump.
Chasing the target of 328, Ireland start was not so good. The opener William Porterfield got bold by James Anderson on the first ball of the first over. However, the two players Paul Stirling and Ed Joyce spent some time together on crease but the Ireland team continued to lose their wickets one after another. One time, they were in so much bad situation that the total team score was 111/5.
